The Challenge

I wanted to see if I could merge two different versions of the same Doors song “The Crystal Ship”, a solo piano and isolated vocal then add a beat. Both had different arrangements and tempos.

The Solution

I chose this project as a practice project in Ableton which I’d just started to learn and use. I chose a project tempo based on the vocal and original Doors song then warped both the vocal and piano tracks to match the tempo. I then added a beat and some MIDI strings over the instrumental bit.
