I took a macro photo of the rotten orange with my DSLR and found a suitable image of the earth online then basically merged the two, taking care to mask out the earth and orange very softly and along the lines of points of interest on the earth. I finished the composition off by adding a star field in the background and a hazy earth atmosphere around the lot Less on the rotting side!
