An idea came from a discussion with a friend about feeling safe from the world's madness during Covid and in general as well as the value of being alone in your own little cocoon sometimes.
I had a rough idea of a naked person, alone and vulnerable in the woods, cocooning in a clear, protected patch so I sketched out a concept drawing, something I hadn't really done before. It was a useful process. Once the sketch was done, I set off with my camera and tripod one day in the forest near Lugg, Co. Dublin to shoot the location and background. I added the model later, complete with angel wings for a "faery forest" vibe, blending her into the background scene before adding some lighting effects and a vignette to enhance the cocoon effect and mood.
